Let There Be Light

 

The roof window and plaster board were delivered the previous week. It was time to get busy with installing the skylight.

Here I've removed shingles and am getting ready to cut out the opening.

It was shaping up to be the right kind of day for steep roof work.

Amatuers beware!

When I got to the point of having a gaping hole in my roof, I called my friend Matt Brown who was prepared to help with the installation.

Besides being a master builder, Matt is an artist and printmaker.

Once we got the window in place, squared-up and anchored, we were ready to tie-up the roof.

The local building supply didn't have an exact match for shingles. The color is close but the size is not, so we had to cut most of them to get them to lace into the flashing and the existing roof properly.

And now with daylight flooding the bedroom, we're ready to start hanging rock...
