Work on the mudroom (antechamber) stopped in November after reaching a point
where we could get the clothes dryer installed and use the room for boot and coat
storage. The ceiling still needs to be taped, mudded, and painted, and the floor
needs finishing but it's good enough until the more important work on the upstairs
bedrooms and bath is completed.
I was happy to be able to recycle various rough sawn boards from the demolition
for use as interior panelling here. The trim is made of stock left over from the
kitchen floor. Remember where that came from? (see: April 18th.)
The door came from a non-profit home repair and reuse company called
Cover. I think it was $10.

Speaking of recycling....
Those old canes hanging on the wall came in useful when Cybele was hobbling around
after foot surgery.

Hey, I told her to get steel toed boots!

Truth be told, there have thankfully been no accidents with the axe.

And since mom was busy chopping wood, and dad was busy building, that
left only one person to make the biscuits.

Oh yeah, and
here on the left is the new roof for the mudroom. Another two man job done by yours truly.
On the right, the chimney guys are installing a new liner for the oil furnace flue.

My apologies for the scant updates to the website. The pace has slowed alot now that we're
moved in and I can't work late into the evenings. The slower pace has also allowed renovation
burnout to set in a little. Things are sure to pick up in the Spring. |
